Welcome from the Headteacher

I am very proud to be the Headteacher of Plymouth High School for Girls and I extend a warm welcome to you. I am confident that you will be as excited as our students, their parents, members of staff and I am about the school. I hope you will take the time to explore our website as this will give you a good overview of what we stand for and our numerous achievements.

Plymouth High School is a very successful, happy school in a pleasant site near the city centre of Plymouth. It is a selective school with 600 girls in Years 7 to 11 with four forms of entry per year. Our Sixth Form is mixed and has now grown to 230 students. We work in close collaboration and partnership with other schools across the city including the other two selective schools. This enables us to offer a wider range of courses post 16 and students from the other schools also join classes we run.

All our visitors comment on the very positive relationships between staff and pupils and the excellent attitudes to learning. It is a very special place. It does have a family atmosphere that provides a sense of warmth and welcome. The school has a strong tradition of providing first class education in a well-ordered and good-humoured environment in which every individual is valued. Our reputation is based on high standards of achievement in an environment where the quality of relationships is paramount. The members of staff here are one of the school’s biggest assets as they are so positive and deeply caring thus ensuring that it is a strong and supportive community.
