The Communications Team
On race day, there is a lot happening, and keeping everything organised is key to success. That's where the Communications Team, or "Comms" for short, comes in. They are the backbone of all the information shared during the race, working closely with the Performance Team and the drivers to ensure everything runs smoothly.
The Comms team acts like a network through which all critical information flows. One of their most important roles is giving the Performance Team live updates on key data, such as speed, power usage, and track conditions. This information helps the Performance Team adjust the race strategy in real-time, ensuring the car is performing at its best.
But the Comms team also plays a crucial role in communicating with the drivers. As the drivers focus on the intense task of racing around the track at speeds of 30mph, the Comms team is there to relay instructions, make adjustments, and keep the drivers informed of any changes.
They also check in with the drivers, making sure they stay calm and comfortable throughout the race, which is critical when split-second decisions can make or break a race.
Without the Communications Team, race day would be far less organised. Their ability to pass along vital information between the Performance Team and drivers ensures that everyone is on the same page, working together to give their best performance. I
n short, the Comms team is the glue that holds everything together, making sure the entire team functions as a well-oiled machine.
