Our Partners

We are an accredited 'Thinking School' in partnership with the University of Exeter. Thinking Schools status is a prestigious national award which confirms that we put metacognition and cognitive science at the heart of all we do.

We are proud to work in partnership with Plymouth Marjon University for Initial Teacher Training.

Plymouth Marjon has a long history of teacher education, having trained teachers for more than 180 years. Their secondary school-based PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) route allows trainees to work towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) while gaining practical experience in partner schools from the start of the course.

Through this partnership, trainees benefit from a strong balance of school-based learning and university-led study. The programme is designed to help new teachers build subject knowledge, classroom confidence and a clear understanding of how pupils learn. Trainees usually spend time in two contrasting school placements, supported by experienced school mentors and the university team.

Marjon offers secondary PGCE routes across a range of subjects, including Art and Design, Biology, Chemistry, English, Geography, Mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages, Physical Education and Physics.

As an ITT partner, we are committed to helping trainee teachers develop into reflective, confident and effective professionals who are ready to make a positive difference in the classroom.
