PHSG New Joiners

September 2023 will see the arrival of three new joiners for PHSG. Let's meet our new team members.

During the Spring Term, PHSG recruited new staff for the new academic year. Following a rigorous recruitment process, we are delighted to have recruited such excellent staff, and we are looking forward to welcoming them into the team, starting today. We are excited for you to meet them, and we have a sneaky preview below of whom the new staff are, a little about themselves and what our students can expect from them.

Mr Adrian Waite - Head of Science

What attracted you to PHSG?

The opportunity to work within a school where the staff and students have such a great reputation and to share my enthusiasm for all things Science.

What are you looking forward to the most?

A new challenge for me in leading the school's fantastic Science team and all of the new experiences that this role will bring.

What makes you different and approachable?

I am really keen on using technology, and anything 'geeky' to help with the learning experience of the students. I am approachable and always ready to listen to any concerns or issues you may have.

What advice do you give the students who will have classes with you?

Do not be afraid to ask for help if you are stuck! I am always open to suggestions on how to make lessons more engaging and enjoyable. I am really looking forward to working alongside the PHSG family.

Mr Waite joins us from Sir John Hunt where he was the Assistant Curriculum Lead and Head of Biology

Miss Elizabeth Hofmann - MFL Teacher

What attracted you to PHSG?

I really ike the ethos of the school. Learning is for life and not just to pass exams. Our time at school should be the beginning of a voyage of lifelong curiosity, enquiry and learning. My tour guides at interview were lovely as well and spoke so highly of their school and what they do at PHSG. Their enthusiasm was infectious!

What are you looking forward to the most?

I am looking forward to getting to know ht students and staff at PHSG and being involved in the life of school. I have heard that the House Competitions are hotly contested, so I am looking forward to getting involved in the 'House Spirit'.

What makes you different and approachable?

I come from a very international background and have travelled a lot, so i enjoy meeting and listening to new people. I believe in building relationships based on mutual respect, kindness and understanding.

What advice do you give the students who will have classes with you?

Be the best that you can be. Always make an effort and keep trying, even if things are hard - you will always get there in the end!

Miss Hofmann is joining us from Teign School in Kingsteignton, with over 16 years teaching experience.

Miss Louise Stoodley - Geography Teacher

What attracted you to PHSG?

The opportunity to teach Geography everyday to the amazing students at PHSG.

What are you looking forward to the most?

Enjoying the journey and exploring the world together with my students

What makes you different and approachable?

I have a 'door open' policy and will away have time to listen, no matter what.

What advice do you give the students who will have classes with you?

Be positive and you will manifest positivity. Always try your best, but don't forget to have fun!

Mrs Stoodley is returning to PHSG in a fixed term supply role, and has been teaching in schools throughout the south west.
