Rebecca's Story

Tomorrow, our amazing Mrs Jagger-Rowden will be undergoing her brain surgery to remove her benign tumour. Our whole PHSG family are thinking of her at this time, sending positive vibes and Rebecca has wanted us to share her story with our community.

Hello my lovely PHSG family,

Long time, no see.

It has been 'quite the journey' over the past 6 months in terms of my health problems- a very worrying time for my family and I! We finally got an answer a month ago. I am having brain surgery on Thursday 23rd February at Derriford to have a benign tumour removed-scary stuff, but feel very lucky and fortunate that it can be dealt with.

I have included my justgiving page below, which explains all about my rare condition, arteriovenous malformation (AVM), that I was originally diagnosed with when I was a wee 16 year old, PHSG student myself. It is something that has never stood in my way of achieving my dreams and aspirations. I never let it, nor am I about to!

Myself, and some of my family are shaving our heads this week for a charity very close to my heart- The Butterfly AVM charity. It is a very rare condition that I have and so doesn't get a lot of recognition. I will also be donating my hair to The Little Princess trust, which make wigs for children that have lost their hair due to cancer treatment or other conditions.

Thank you in advance for any support you can give!

I hope you are all well, I am missing everyone lots and I hope to see you all very soon!
