National Rail - strike update

A quick reminder of the ASLEF (train drivers) strike taking place this Thursday, 7 December. The majority of our network will no services at all.

Where we are able to run services they will start later and finish much earlier than usual. Online journey planners have now been fully updated and more information is available on our dedicated strike page at www.gwr.com/strike

ASLEF’s action short of a strike also continues until Saturday 9 December, which means we have no spare drivers available in case of sickness or disruption. This may lead to some short notice alterations and cancellations.

We’re also seeing some continuing disruption due to flooding across the network yesterday and today. We’re grateful for our customers’ patience as we try to keep people on the move but it has been a difficult 24 hours, particularly as securing replacement road vehicles proved very challenging. Please accept our apologies if you were caught up in the disruption. Customers should continue to check before they travel at www.gwr.com/check

Finally, this Sunday 10 sees the latest timetable change across the network nationally come into effect. Again all changes are live in journey planners, or you can see the specifics for each our routes at https://www.gwr.com/travel-information/train-times

As ever, if you can share this amongst your networks we’d be very grateful, and if there’s anything we can do to help please do just get in touch.

Best wishes

Jane
