Scary story competition - winner announced!

A frightfully good read!
As Halloween creeps ever closer, our students have been putting their literacy skills to the test with a spooky sentence-writing challenge.
Students were asked to write two sentences on the theme of Halloween and scaring people, with the aim of creating writing that would instantly capture a reader's imagination. The entries are shown below, and we are delighted to announce that our winner is Lois, 8L whose chilling 2-sentence story impressed her peers the most.
This activity formed part of our ongoing emphasis on reading and literacy, encouraging students to think carefully about vocabulary, atmosphere and the art of engaging an audience from the very first line. Many of the entries demonstrated a real flair for creative writing. Some of the sentences would make an excellent opening to a story, fully gripping readers and leaving them desperate to discover what happens next. In fact, some of them sent shivers down my spine!
Congratulations to Lois and well done to all students who took part. We hope you enjoy reading the wonderfully spooky entries below and perhaps find inspiration for a Halloween tale of your own.
