Cheerleading success leads to international opportunity

Congratulations to Roxanne, whose dedication and perseverance in cheerleading have earned her team a place at the All Star Worlds

Plymouth High student, Roxanne T (9A), has been involved in cheerleading since 2019 and now competes at Senior Elite Level 4.2 with 'Chaos Cheerleading'

After sustaining an injury in 2024 requiring a period of rehabilitation, Roxanne spent 2025 focusing on rehabilitation, rebuilding strength and continuing to develop her tumbling skills, before successfully returning to competition in 2026.

A standout moment came in June at the Power Up competition held at the Royal Welsh Showground. Roxanne's team, Glitch, delivered an outstanding performance, finishing in 1st place and achieving a hit zero routine, meaning they received no deductions from the judges.
During the event, the World Bid announcements were made and Roxanne and her teammates received the exciting news every cheerleader dreams of hearing – that their team had been awarded a place at The All Star Worlds in Florida!  The announcement came as a complete surprise and was met with tremendous excitement from the athletes, coaches and supporters.
Looking ahead, the next season is already shaping up to be unforgettable. Alongside competing in Florida in 2027, Roxanne will also represent her team at an international competition in Barcelona in May 2027.
We congratulate Roxanne on her achievements and wish her every success as she prepares for these exciting international opportunities.

Roxanne’s success reflects not only her talent but also her determination to overcome challenges and pursue her goals. Her journey embodies our motto, ‘For life, not school, we learn,’ showing how commitment, resilience and ambition can open doors to extraordinary opportunities" – Mr Underdown

Roxanne reflects on her journey:

What inspired you to get involved in cheerleading?

I got into cheer when I was 7 year old, joining it as a 'hobby', but I was quickly offered a place within a competition team and it became more of a sport than a hobby.

Achieving a "hit zero" is a great accomplishment and a testament to the efforts of the whole team.  How do you juggle your studies with training and competitions?

I have never really struggled to juggle both as they are both really important for my future.

How did you feel when Glitch was announced in 1st place and awarded the bid to the All Star Cheer World 2027 at Disney World?

When it was announced, I felt very shocked and thought I was in a dream as no one expected it - and we also didn’t know that we were put in for a bid!  When the shock wore off, I was very happy and excited.

Looking ahead to this event, what are you most excited about?

I am very excited to spend time bonding with my team in Florida, meeting teams from all over the world, and training at top American cheerleading team gyms.

And finally, what advice would you give to younger students who are thinking about taking up cheerleading or joining a competitive sport?

Believe in yourself you can achieve anything you want to achieve but it does take commitment – and team spirit!
