What a fantastic achievement for the YMCA U13 girls’ football team, who were crowned Devon Junior Minor League Cup Final champions last weekend following a thrilling victory over Saltash.

Special congratulations goes out to Sofia and Isla (8A), and Izzy (8T) who, alongside their teammates, produced an outstanding performance showcasing determination, teamwork and resilience throughout.

The final proved to be a dramatic encounter with YMCA falling behind 1-0 early on. However, the team showed great character and refused to give up, battling back to equalise at 1-1 and force the game into a tense penalty shootout! 

Keeping their composure under pressure, the team went on to secure a superb 3-0 win on penalties and lift the trophy. The girls should feel immensely proud of their efforts and will be celebrated at the Awards event at Plymouth Arena later this year.
