Double success for dedicated students

Success both on the track and stage takes confidence, commitment, and determination – qualities that PHSG students take pride in demonstrating.
At the beginning of January, Tilly D (Year 8) competed at the Wales Open Athletics Meet, representing the City of Plymouth Athletics Club in the Under 15 60m hurdles. In this higher age group, Tilly faced strong and experienced competition, but remained composed and focused throughout her races, achieving an impressive 12th place overall, 5th in South West England, and 2nd in her heat! Tilly's family shared that her performance was exceptional and she has proved herself to be a real credit to her athletics club, the school, the county, and to herself. We couldn't agree more!
Also in January, Belle B (Year 7) showcased her talent and confidence at the Saltash Drama Festival, achieving outstanding success across multiple categories. Belle placed 4th in Set Verse, 3rd in Sight Reading, 2nd in Bible Reading, and secured 1st place in Object Story Telling; an excellent achievement. In addition to her festival success, Belle also recently passed her Grade 3 LAMDA Verse and Prose examination with Distinction, highlighting her dedication, performance skills, and growing confidence as a young performer.
Both Tilly and Belle should be extremely proud of their achievements, which not only reflect their individual talents but their hard work, dedication, and commitment to developing themselves beyond the classroom; a perfect example of our school motto, 'for life, not school, we learn'!
