Year 10 Food Preparation and Nutrition students are currently completing a topic on cereals. As part of this, they have been learning about wheat and making their own pasta.
On Thursday 11th and Friday 12th January, students from year 12 A Level Biology visited the Plymouth Electron Microscopy Centre at the University of Plymouth. Students were given a detailed overview of techniques involved in both scanning and transmission electron microscopy, including sample preparation and applications of each method.
PHSG English teacher Mr Rutherford has a secret second life as a writer, which was recently featured on BBC Radio Devon and Cornwall.
Huge congratulations to Maya, 8A, one of the tumbling team gymnasts at Zero Gravity Academy of Gymnastics and Trampolining. She received her silver medal in the post from the Southern Team Tumble event in December.
The House Festivals are a long standing tradition at PHSG, with the Autumn Term celebrating the Drama Festival. This year, Kendall House went above and beyond to secure the one and only Dame Emma Thompson, DBE, to feature in their House Festival performance!
Kernow Health will be delivering the following vaccines this term: DTP/ACWY for Year 9 (incl Y10 & 11 who did not receive this in Y9) on 6th February. HPV for Year 8 Students on 23rd April.
On Friday 15th December, PHSG hosted their Carol Service in St Matt's Church. As well as the whole school carols, the PHSG Acappella Group, School Choir and School Orchestra performed well known carols. A wonderful event to round off 2023 at PHSG. Well done to all of the staff and students involved.

On Wednesday 13th December, PHSG hosted their annual Awards evening. The event celebrates student achievements and provides the opportunity for the 2022/23 Year 11 & Year 13's to collect their national certificates.
This week, our Year 13 Chemistry experiment determined the percentage of copper in 1p pieces, using titrimetric analysis.
