On Tuesday 16th July, students (and staff) at PHSG competed in the legendary and highly anticipated school sports day. With Sports Captains at the ready, athletes train throughout the year as the Houses compete against each other to win certificates, trophies and all important House points.

As part of PHSG’s preparation for this week’s General Election, members of our Sixth Form helped raise awareness and engagement by hosting a debate, taking on the roles of spokesperson for each of the main political parties. With a large audience taking up much of the Newman Hall, students from all year groups had an opportunity to put questions to the parties regarding a broad range of issues ranging from tuition fees and mental health to transgender rights and Gaza in what proved to be, at times, a very lively and enlightening debate.
On Tuesday 2nd July we had the opportunity to welcome two chefs from the Royal Navy to work with some of our GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition students. They learnt about possible career options within the Navy, as well as being set a cooking challenge.

On Friday last week, the English department and the Library team had the pleasure of celebrating over 130 students from KS3 for their hard work and consistent effort in Sparx Reader. In amongst these silent superstars, we also celebrated the top ten library borrowers throughout the whole year.
