Year 7 Camping Trip

Last week our Year 7's headed out for some team bonding in our annual Year 7 camping trip.

Here at PHSG we like to ensure that our new recruits are welcomed into our school family and recognise the importance of the students creating strong bonds between them, which will help them through their secondary school journey.

The new students are divided into their Houses; Anthony, Temple, Latimer and Kendall at the start of the term. This will be the House that they will represent in competitions throughout their time here at PHSG.  The inter House competition's throughout the year are an important culture at PHSG, and we feel that the values of working together as a team, supporting each other through difficult tasks and celebrating success, is an ethos which we strive to carry forward through school and beyond into the wider world.

The year 7 camping trip at Sconner Down is an opportunity for our new classmates to get to know each other on a more personal level. To find out each other likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses without the pressure of the classroom.

The students undertake a range of team building activities, designed to discover their skills and problem solve. They learn a lot about themselves and each other and have a lot of fun along the way.

PHSG want to thank the students for such a positive attitude throughout the week and to our staff for volunteering to assist with the trip. Also, a big shout out Mrs Goolden for taking on the task of organising this event along with the Head of Year, Miss Joynes and to Paul and Aiden from the Plymouth School Sports partnership, who were fantastic at providing all the activities.

We hope the students enjoyed their time, made new friendships, and we are looking forward to watching their PHSG journey unfold.
