Mental Health at Plymouth High School - Meet your Mental Health Lead

At PHSG we are in support Mental Health Awareness Week (MHAW). Prioritising mental health is more than just a week, it really is all year round and for the rest of your life, however, MHAW is a great way to kick-start the conversation again.

Your mental health is a number one priority, it's as important as your physical health, which is why here at PHSG we have Sam Payne. Mrs Payne is our Assistant Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead. This role encompasses the Mental Health Lead and Safeguarding Leads for the school.

Who is the Mental Health lead at Plymouth High School?

Mrs Payne - Assistant Headteacher. My office is in the corridor next to the Gallery.

To me mental health is your well-being and it is equally important to physical health. We all have times when we feel down, stressed or frightened and these feelings pass. When these feelings linger or become intense help/ support is needed.

As a school we feel that for students to be successful in life they need to be both physically and mentally healthy. We aim to equip students with strategies and tools to look after their mental health to be prosperous in their future lives.
