We're back!
What a fantastic first full week!
Be your best self!
Headteacher, Mr Underdown, and Deputy Headteacher, Miss Roughton, led our assemblies this week, welcoming new and returning students, encouraging engagement in clubs and activities, and reminding everyone really what it means to be a Plymouth High student. Students were also offered supportive reassurance that while we won't always be the best at any particular subject or activity, you should always strive to be your best self.
Our new Year 7 students have done so well with their transition - coming together from over 60 different primary schools - culminating this week in an exciting 'Traitors'-themed team building activity. This day gives our new starters the opportunity to get to know each other as they work together to work through puzzles and riddles to solve a mystery. Organised by The Big Step, this Y6 to Y7 transition event revolves around the TV show, Traitors, and our students enjoyed collecting clues from around the school site, collecting Shields and working out who the Traitor was.
All of the teams were fantastic and The Big Step team were extremely positive and complimentary of the fantastic behaviour of our students and their ability to collaborate.
Well done to all of the Year group and a big congratulations to the winning team who consisted of Ella, Marnie, Harper and Rom (7A).
It's been wonderful having the school brought to life again after a long (extremely warm!) summer, with all of our students together again and everyone settling nicely into their new routines. And it was great to see our new Year 12 students and their families at the Year 12 'expectations evening' on Wednesday evening.
Throughout the week, we've seen new friendships blossoming, happy reunions, and lots of smart uniforms being worn with pride - a really positive start to the new school year!
