BBC visit puts the ‘spotlight’ on student voices

Plymouth High students share their perspectives with the BCC on a key national issue

This morning, we were delighted to welcome our local BBC news team to the school, where they met with a group of Year 9 students and our Head Student Team to discuss the government’s proposed social media ban.

The visit gave our students a fantastic opportunity to share their thoughts and perspectives on an issue that directly affects young people. They spoke thoughtfully and confidently about both the potential benefits and challenges of such a policy, demonstrating maturity, insight, and a strong sense of social awareness.

In addition to speaking with students, the BBC also spoke to our Headteacher, Mr Underdown, who shared his perspective on the proposal and the potential implications for educators.

We are incredibly proud of the way our students represented the school in this important national conversation, and you can hear their views and see the full report on BBC Spotlight tonight at 6.30pm. Be sure to tune in!
