A Level London art trip – An inspiring day out

In November, Year 12 and 13 A Level art students embarked on an unforgettable trip to London for a magical day of art appreciation. Despite the rain, spirits were high as the group strolled across the Thames, passing the iconic Shard on their way to the stunning Tate Modern. Students were thrilled to encounter world-famous artworks they had previously only seen in books or on screens. The Tate’s rich and diverse collection sparked fresh ideas and creative energy. A particular highlight was the Giacometti sculptures displayed in the atmospheric Tanks space.
After exploring the Tate, the group headed by tube to Sloane Square for some well-deserved Japanese cuisine before wandering down the festive King’s Road, illuminated by Christmas lights. The day concluded with a special treat: a visit to the Saatchi Gallery’s 40th Anniversary Exhibition, featuring iconic works from the Young British Artists, including Damien Hirst and Jenny Saville, alongside contemporary pieces that continue to shape the art world today.
It was a long day, but completely worth it – students returned brimming with inspiration, ready to bring new perspectives and ideas into their own projects!
