Isles of Scilly 2025: An Unforgettable Island Adventure

Our Isles of Scilly adventure began with a challenge – no bus! But in true community spirit, our amazing parents and carers came to the rescue, rallying together to get everyone to the ferry terminal on time. It was a tricky start that only made our group feel even more connected and determined to make the most of the week ahead. And what a week it was!

We explored the stunning Eastern Isles on a wildlife tour where we spotted playful grey seals lounging on the rocks, graceful cormorants drying their wings, and the distinctive flash of oyster catchers orange beaks as they darted along the shoreline. Nature put on a spectacular show!

Their creative side came to life during a beach art competition, with students working in teams to craft incredible sculptures and patterns from sand, shells, and seaweed, a testament to their imagination and teamwork.

In the heart of Tresco Abbey Garden, we took part in a lively treasure hunt, winding our way through towering palms and exotic plants in search of hidden clues, all while soaking up the rich botanical beauty of this iconic site.

Adventure awaited us on Porthmellon Beach, where everyone had the chance to try stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking. Laughter echoed across the water as students found their balance (or didn’t!) and grew in confidence with every wave.

Evenings were just as special. We enjoyed fish and chips in the park, a relaxed and joyful time to share stories and laugh together. On another evening, we were treated to a delicious meal at the Atlantic Inn, where we sat overlooking the sea as the sun began to dip behind the islands — a truly magical moment.

One of the highlights was our walk around the entire perimeter of St Mary’s, taking in the rugged coastline, hidden coves, and panoramic views that made us feel like we were at the edge of the world. It was both physically challenging and utterly inspiring.

Our final evening brought everyone together for a fantastic BBQ, followed by the riotously entertaining ScillyFest ’25, a celebration of student creativity with performances that had us all laughing, and applauding until the stars came out.

This trip was no holiday. It was an enriching chance to grow, bond, try new things, and create memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you again to our wonderful parents and carers and we couldn’t have done it without you!
