Head Student Team End of Year Updates

Our Head Student Team has been busy leading exciting initiatives this term, including updates from the Student Council, Charity and Wellbeing, inspiring work on Inclusivity and Diversity, and the latest edition of the Hear Me Out student magazine.

Student Council

As the Head of Student Council, I’ve been working on alongside the other members of the Head Student Team and leaders within the trust to help achieve our aims for this year. Additionally, I work with our Student Council Representatives to help bring new ideas forward in the school. Here are a few things we’ve been working on this year:

  • Supported the Head Student Team at events and assemblies.
  • Voted for the new catering team and had a meeting with them to discuss the different food options and set up.
  • Worked with the other schools in the trust to try to achieve our goals and come up with new strategies to help us get there.

It’s been a fantastic year, and I’m so proud and impressed with our brilliant Student Council members. I can’t wait to pick up where we left off in September. Thanks to everyone who got involved!

Charity and Wellbeing

So far as Head of Charity and wellbeing, I’ve been able to help the school raise lots of money for our charities, which all of you chose in January. Alongside working with an incredible group of year sevens, I’ve also had the chance to work alongside students at different schools within our trust, and it's been incredible to see the progress made trust wide. Here are a few key things that have happened:

  • A slush fund to aid fundraising has been set up at most schools
  • All schools are now holding fundraising events with non-compulsory donations, so people don't pressure to give if they are unable to.
  • At PHSG, we held our inter-house charity bake off! This was a big success, and it was amazing to see so many of you get involved.

It’s been such a great few terms, and I can't wait to see what September brings!

Diversity and Inclusivity

As Head of Diversity and Inclusivity, I have had the chance to work on amazing aims and priorities this year with students across different schools in the trust. Here is a quick look at what we have been working on and achieved.

  • Culture Day: A celebration of the diverse backgrounds in our community through clothing, food, and performances.
  • Awareness Assemblies: Assemblies were held for LQBTQ+ History Month, Black History Month, Religious Celebrations (e.g. Ramadan & Eid) and other key events to educate.
  • Food & Fundraising: From food in the canteen from different countries to bake sales, we used food to bring people together and sometimes to raise money for great causes.

It has been a wonderful year, I am really proud of what we have done, and I am excited to see how we keep growing next year. Thanks to everyone supported and took part!

Reading and Hear Me Out

As editor of ‘Hear Me Out’ I have had a great year, coordinating ideas across the trust and speaking to people within PHSG and in other schools. This year I,

  • Created and edited my first issue of the school magazine, inspired by ‘Top of the Pops.’
  • Helped other members of student leadership teams during events and assemblies
  • Coordinated reading across the trust, ensuring PHSG was up to date with the other schools and the systems they have in place (reading reward systems etc.)

It has been a great year, and I am excited to continue my role in September.
