Bank of England Talk Inspires Year 12 Economists
On Thursday 12th June, Year 12 students at Plymouth High School for Girls were treated to a fascinating talk by Iain Ramsey, a Marketing Intelligence Analyst from the Bank of England in London. The event was organised by Mr Jenkins and Miss Carter, and was open to our Year 12 students currently studying for their Economics A Level.
In addition to explaining his role at the Bank of England, Iain shared his own journey—from choosing his A-level subjects and university course to finding a career in economic analysis. His advice on university options and career pathways in economics was particularly useful for students beginning to think about their futures.
He also discussed some of the recent government policies and their impact on the economy, prompting thoughtful questions from the audience. The Year 12s took full advantage of the opportunity to quiz a real-world expert, asking excellent questions that sparked further discussion.
Overall, it was a valuable and inspiring session that gave students a real insight into the world of economic policy and careers in finance. A huge thank you to Iain Ramsey for visiting, and to Mr Jenkins and Miss Carter for making it happen!
