  • PHSG Student and Class of the Week - 01/05/2026

    Student of the week: Martha K, 7L for “consistently bringing such a positive presence to the library.  Every time she comes in, she greets me with a smile, always says hello, and is unfailingly polite.  Her positive attitude genuinely brightens my day and helps create a welcoming atmosphere for everyone”.  Nominated by Mrs Heard. 

     

    And once again, we had such strong nominations this week that we have multiple winning Groups: 

     

    • Group of the week: Erin W, Lily B, Rosie L, Year 11, and Maggie D, Year 13 This wonderful group of students welcomed ACC Leaper into school on Monday.  They asked her questions about Policing, her experience as the most senior Police officer in Devon and Cornwall and about the challenges and rewards of her role.  The students were engaging, thoughtful and fabulous ambassadors for our school.  True PHSG spirit, well done.  Nominated by Mr Underdown. 

     

    • Clara M, Harriet P, Jess W and Olivia W, Year11 for outstanding work around Hummingbird and Xanthus, giving up their Saturday's and lunchtimes to help the team improve and prepare for Chivenor, and sharing their wisdom with younger students.  Nominated by Mr Goodchild.

     

    • Annelise D, Tabitha R, Eva T, EmilyRose T, Eva P, Edlyn H-T, Erin S, Laila W and Isla D, Year 8B/Mu for choreographing, rehearsing and performing the most exceptional quality piece of musical theatre.  The piece was so good I have asked them to perform it in a concert at the end of term.  This was no better example of a group of students working together to produce work of exceptional quality.  Nominated by Miss MarcerGriffiths.

  • PHSG Student and Class of the Week - 24/04/2026

    Student of the week: Tabitha W, Year 13 "Tabitha has been producing her practical work over the past few months. She has worked tirelessly to produce a high-level prototype product with minimal assistance. She is well motivated and has overcome some technical issues without assistance. I feel she exemplifies a level of confidence and sheer determination to produce an excellent piece of practical work". Nominated by Mr Keating.
    Class of the week: 10H2 Biology, Year 10 "I cannot remember a time when I had such a uniformly positive parents evening. This class has worked hard for the whole academic year and has made good improvement from test to test". Nominated by Mrs Lewin. 
    Group of the week: Lily-Mae H and Livia B, Year 11 for acting as school photographers during the Gym and Dance Festival. "This last-minute - and no doubt daunting - request saw them rise to the challenge with enthusiasm and maturity, and they did an outstanding job! I'm looking forward to sharing the results of their hard work shortly." Nominated by Miss Redmond.

    Student of the week: Erin P, Year 11 for working hard throughout the GCSE course and pushing herself to improve with every lesson and homework.  She scored 100% in her final calculator mock and showed perfect and accurate workings for every problem.  Nominated by Miss Freeman-Alford.
